3D Visualization

One of the newest emerging technologies in GIS is virtual world analysis.  Accurate perspective visualization and real-time "fly throughs" are now possible by incorporating imagery and Digital Elevation Models (DEM) together. 3D Visualization is widely used for viewshed or perspective analysis.  It also allows for data manipulation and data query so that "what if" scenarios can be examined.  This is especially useful when "line of sight" issues are critical.

One usage of this technology is the placement of digital communication towers.  Viewshed analysis can help you locate or evaluate terrain and structural objects that may interfere with a digital signal. This technology is also applied in the real-estate industry by allowing developers to get a preview of a proposed subdivision prior to construction.  Developers can examine specific views from different points to determine house placement within the subdivision.

Though developing 3D virtual landscapes can be complicated, it can also be very cost effective in most applications due to the availability and declining costs of data.  Let us show you how this technology can work for you.
