Windrose has established key relationships with many public
and private sources for GIS and satellite data.
By tapping into these sources, data can be obtained for
nearly any location on the earth.
Satellite Data:
Data can be hard to come by in many parts of the world
however, by acquiring satellite information; many other
data layers can be derived. Satellite information can yield
data layers such as:
- Land Use / Land Cover
- Major transportation
networks
- Major hydrologic
features
- Geology
- DEM's
Image Products:
Landsat TM imagery (30-meter/15-meter PAN)
SPOT Imagery (20-meter/10-meter PAN)
IRS (5-meter PAN)
IKONOS (1-meter multi-spectral)
Aerial Photography:
Aerial Photos are abundant in the United States. The most common are the DOQ
products, which are widely available. Other non-ortho photos or historic aerial photos
are also available through local governments or private
firms.
Maps:
Maps can also be obtained for many areas around the
world. They can be digitized to produce DEM's, or
detailed transportation and hydrology layers. Maps can
also be used as a basic GIS reference layer simply by
scanning and applying positional information.
Digital Raster Graphics (DRG) data are also available for
the entire United States. These maps can be processed or
projected for any project.
Vector Data:
Windrose can obtain and process all the USGS data
available. USGS data has long been used as a
standard for many mapping project. Unfortunately,
USGS data usually needs to be pre-processed before
it can be used.
