It is often desired to work with only one image instead of a series of images. By performing a digital mosaic, it is possible to append multiple images together into a single image. By incorporating the image color balancing and edge feathering techniques with the mosaic process, image seams can be minimized or eliminated in the final image.

Once an image is appended, the file size can increase dramatically. Other processes such as compression or resampling can be performed to manage the image file size.
