Large-scale data
can be very valuable for many applications, however there are times when it can be too much to handle. This is
especially true when using large-scale data over a very large area.
Trying to incorporate several large-scale files can slow many systems
down to a crawl. If data compression is not an option, resampling
large-scale data may be the solution.
Resampling is the process of
taking pixel values in one image, and extrapolating them to a new image
with a different grid size. It is possible to reduce the size of a
single 1-meter image by up to 4 times by resampling it to 2-meters.
Now a 100mb file is only 25mb with little loss in detail at the
smaller scale.
The Windrose Data Corporation can
resample image data to any scale or resolution required. Using different
techniques, reduced image data is almost impossible to differentiate
from its original form at the desired scale.
